Exhausted, emotional, but unbelievably proud of what he has accomplished, Christian Noël is back from his bike trip around Quebec with a big smile on his face. Having been involved for the past 6 years in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, Christian was captain of the Loupierivoise Delegation composed of 5 other cyclists, and together they succeeded in raising more than 275 000 $ over the years.
What is the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie? It is an event that brings together teams of cyclists from all over Quebec, who pedal day and night from Saguenay to Montreal. They bike nearly 1200 km in three days, with the goal of raising funds to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among young people. Wow!
Like every year, Christian and his team set the bar high by raising much more than the basic fees for registration. For example, over $ 200,000 has been used directly in elementary and high schools in the area. "This is where the Grand Défi becomes interesting, where we can really make an impact! These young people are important: they are our future," he says. Thanks to his efforts, several schools are now equipped with, among other things, climbing walls, balls, hockey equipment and even circus classes!
Overwhelmed by the emotion of this adventure, this team member is more than grateful to all the companies who take the trouble, year after year, to sponsor his team so that at the end of the day, the young people of the region benefit.
Always passionate and committed to this cause that is close to his heart, Christian has not yet decided if he’ll attempt a 7th year, but he knows he would have no problem passing the torch to other cyclists involved, who will also be able to showcase the values and passion he has been able to spread over the last 6 years.
Premier Tech stands with you! Thank you for believing in our youth!
