Premier Tech welcomes the financial support granted by the governments of Canada and Québec for the HIFA innovation centre

Premier Tech welcomes financial support from the Canadian and Québec governments, respectively $9.4 and $13.4 million, for the creation of the HIFA (Innovation and Advanced Training Halls) innovation centre in Rivière-du-Loup. The Honourable Pascale St-Onge — Minister of Sport and Minister responsible for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec — and Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon, Québec Economy and Innovation Minister, made the announcement earlier today. 

The Université du Québec à Chicoutimi Entrepreneurship and Spin-Off Centre (CEE-UQAC), the Québec Centre for Aluminum Research and Development (CQRDA), and the Université du Québec à Rimouski have jointly developed this project. Premier Tech is a proud founding member of this unprecedented initiative along with the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Desjardins Capital and Cascades.  

“We are pleased to see how this innovative project has evolved. It will support skills development and enhance Québec companies’ competitiveness, especially in remote areas. And all that while fostering smart manufacturing and innovative packaging technologies,” said Jean Bélanger, president and chief executive officer at Premier Tech. 

“The HIFA innovation centre will be established in Rivière-du-Loup’s future Technoparc. Its proximity to the Premier Tech Campus will enable us to support companies in their digital transformation and help them increase their culture of innovation and training,” added Yves Goudreau, senior vice-president corporate development at Premier Tech.
